Change of UKCA President
Dear UKCA community,
Every year, the voting Members of the UKCA hold an election to determine the official Directors of the UKCA Community Interest Company, as listed on Companies House. We also vote to elect people into the roles of President, Vice-President and Treasurer. After the election on 26th August, it was decided that Bertie Longden would be our new President, with Sam Spendla subsequently stepping down from his role as UKCA Director. Myself, Eleanor and Nevins have retained our roles as Vice-President, Treasurer and Director without portfolio, respectively.
Sam has contributed a huge amount to the UKCA since joining in 2018, stepping up to Vice-President during the pandemic, and taking over as President in 2023. He was critical in transforming the UKCA from an Unincorporated Association into a Community Interest Company and dealing with all of the complications associated with it. The UKCA would not be in the same place were it not for his leadership until this point. Sam will maintain his role as a UKCA Member, as well as the WCA Regional Delegate for UK and Ireland. We would like to thank Sam for all of the work he has done for the UKCA.
Bertie has been part of the UKCA since 2019, became a Delegate in 2022 and has been taking on greater responsibilities over the years. This year he decided to step up and run for Director and President, and was successfully elected. We would like to congratulate Bertie on his new role as President of the UKCA.
On behalf of the UKCA,
Oliver Wheat, Vice President
